Application Development and trend of Industrial Ethernet Technology
According to the recent reader survey of Control Engineering Chinese Edition and CONTROL ENGINEERING in the United States, the application and development of industrial Ethernet technology show the following seven trends:
Security: 22% of readers think that Control Engineering Network is copyrighted. When choosing industrial Ethernet products and solutions, they are most concerned about security (22%), followed by stability (21%), speed (14%) and compatibility (12%). In addition, 7% of Chinese users pay more attention to whether the chosen industrial Ethernet protocol is a national standard. At the 2015 Black Hat Conference held in the United States a few days ago, researchers from OActive found that most industrial system protocols lack authentication or encrypted integrity and found security vulnerabilities in the default configurations of some manufacturers' industrial Ethernet switches. With the networking of more key equipment in factories, security has become the biggest concern for Ethernet applications. When evaluating the security threat level of its control system network, up to 26% of people think that its system is vulnerable to attack.
Data connection: according to the respondents' feedback, the main advantage of using Ethernet technology is the convenience of data connection. Other advantages include ease of use (39%), cost savings (27%), better asset management (23%) and increased productivity (22%). The analysis and optimization of data is the basis of intelligent manufacturing. The openness and compatibility of Ethernet protocol help enterprises to open up the information islands between the upper and lower layers.
Adoption rate: 52% of respondents' companies are using industrial Ethernet technology, and 41% of users are planning to adopt it in the future. Driven by the concepts of the Internet of things, Industrial 4.0 and Industrial Internet, more and more devices will be connected to the whole network of the factory in the future, and become intelligent device terminals that can provide big data. According to forecasts released by market research company Gartner, the number of connected devices worldwide will reach 25 billion by 2020, more than twice the world's population. Forty-four percent of respondents predict that the increase in productivity in 2015 will be directly related to Ethernet technology, and 49 percent want to continue to increase investment in Ethernet products and services.
Integration: 40% of respondents running, serving, or integrating Ethernet technologies work in operations or engineering, followed by business IT at 23% and manufacturing IT at 16%. 50% of respondents said that only control, automation, and instrumentation technologies were integrated with Ethernet technology in their enterprises, compared with 29% of enterprises with high integration and 7% of enterprises with no integration at all. Only 38% of respondents thought they were experts in Ethernet technology, while 53% said they were only "somewhat familiar" with the technology.
Confidentiality: 45% of respondents said confidentiality was a major challenge to the adoption or increased use of Ethernet technology. When implementing Ethernet secrecy technology, CONTROL ENGINEERING China copyright is reserved, 61% of respondents are based on IT rules, 15% of respondents adopt the rules of their department, and-Ⅲ (2%) and EPA (1%) (owned by copyright industrial control network)
