What is the difference between transducer and transmitter?
Transducer and transmitter play an important role in the field of automatic control. Transmitter are developed on the basis of transducer. They are closely related and different.
Transducer
There is "perception" first, then conversion, and finally transmission. Therefore, transmission is the purpose, conversion is the means, and perception is the foundation. The components that can sense the measured variables (temperature, pressure, liquid level, flow) are called sensitive components, and the components that can convert the sensed variables into non-standard electrical signals or other forms of output signals are called conversion components. Therefore, transducer is composed of sensitive components and conversion components.
Transmitter
There is transmission before delivery, so delivery is the purpose and transmission is the foundation. The transmission part is to transform the non-standard electric signal or other form signal transmitted by the transducer into a standard electric signal, such as 4-20mA, 1-5v, and then send the standard signal to the secondary instrument.
The difference between transmitter and transducer
Wiring system and power supply: Transducer has two-wire system, three-wire system, and four-wire system. Some need additional power supply, and some do not need power supply. Transmitter is basically a two-wire system and the power supply and signal are the same group of wires.
Signal: The signal output by the transducer has a non-standard electric signal or other forms of signal, which is a weak non-standard signal. The transmitter outputs a standard electric signal, and the output signal is strong. For long distance it can be transmitted by standard current signal, and for short distance it can be transmitted by standard voltage signal.
Primary instrument and secondary instrument: Transmitter and transducer are both primary instrument. The primary instrument is used for signal acquisition and conversion, and the secondary instrument can accept the signals collected and converted by the primary instrument, which can be used for display, control, alarm, monitoring, etc.
If transducer and the transmitter are made into an integrated type, it has the function of a primary instrument and a secondary instrument, that is, a smart transmitter.
