Introduction of G1100 Gateway and Host System Interface - Modbus Communication
G1100 WirelessHART Smart Gateway is responsible for setting up, managing and maintaining the wireless network, continuously optimizing the network so that the devices in the network can work efficiently and safely. At the same time, the G1100 gateway seamlessly integrates the data from the devices in the network into the host system or data application and provides the corresponding security.
The G1100 connects to the host system through industry-standard protocols, including Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC, and HART-IP. Meanwhile, the G1100 gateway also supports active upload protocol and downward communication protocol to realize flexible data applications.
Modbus Communication Function
G1100 gateway supports RS 485 serial-based Modbus RTU communication and Ethernet-based Modbus TCP communication. As a sub-device in a Modbus network, communication needs to be initiated by the Modbus master device (host system).
Modbus Communication Settings
The Modbus communication settings in the gateway must correspond to the settings in the Modbus master device (host system). Modbus parameters can be configured by selecting Settings → Protocol Settings on the gateway web page.
Modbus Register Mapping
Register mapping is the process of assigning data points from the wireless device to Modbus registers that can be read by the Modbus master device (host system). Select Settings→Modbus Register Mapping from the Gateway web page to enter the Modbus Register Mapping configuration screen.
